A New York Picnic

Company picnics are our specialty. It’s even in our name! It is our passion to produce outdoor (and sometimes indoor) events for businesses all over the country.

Uniting families (work and home) in an environment of food and fun is a calling that we take seriously. In this case, our client called from New York, a city that embodies boundless energy and vibrancy. It provided the perfect backdrop for a day filled with camaraderie, laughter, and pure enjoyment.

Everyone loves New York, and we are no different. New York is an incredible spot for company picnics. Our client for this picnic was Rectangle Health, a company specializing in technological solutions for healthcare providers.

The location they chose to host this year’s company picnic was Veteran’s Memorial Park, a local park within a few miles of Rectangle Health’s headquarters. Rectangle Health wanted this day to be a special outing, filled with loads of enjoyment, for their valued team.

Setting Up at the Park

Veteran’s Memorial Park was still and quiet when our crew entered its grassy grounds that Sunday morning. The air was brisk and the sky a lovely pale blue as we began our preparations for that day’s guests. We set up this picnic at the park’s large and small picnic shelters. Our guest list totaled 150, and the park’s fervent greens boasted enough space for everyone.

Our staff busied themselves setting up booths, inflating entertainment, and preparing the picnic tables. The park sprung to life as we worked, the air reverberating with the sound of pumps whirring and the flurry of movement. We always arrive with plenty of time to prepare for picnics, in this case, a few hours early.

Catering teams made their way into the park at the same time we did, firing up their grills and setting to work preparing this picnic’s lunch. The smell of woodsmoke filled the air and, soon, was followed by the smell of barbeque and the sizzling sound of cooking. We’d prepared a delicious menu for today’s guests to enjoy, ranging from burgers, hotdogs, and barbeque chicken to mac n’ cheese, potato salad, garden salad, and cookies.

The Picnic Begins!

Our client arrived early, as well, bringing along plenty of branded swag to hand out at today’s event. There were swag items for both the kids attending as well as the adults, and we found these inclusions to be perfect for an event like this. Swag at picnics is a great way to brand and lends a touch of togetherness and community when everyone is wearing it.

The event began at 12:00, and guests arrived at the picnic area. The crowd was already bustling, chattering, and excited. Guests made their way to the registration tables, grabbing their wristbands and swag. Faces were bright with smiles as Rectangle Health’s staff and their families made their way to their choice of entertainment or to the buffet lines. We’d filled the park with plenty to do on this beautiful autumn afternoon.

Some guests made their way to our inflatable entertainment, trying their hand at inflatable ax throwing or Connect-Four basketball hoops. Our 4-in-1 sports inflatable, with stations for soccer, basketball, football, and baseball beckoned guests to its front with its bright colors and exciting gameplay. Some guests tried out the vibrant bounce house or our giant slide, while others made their way to the arts stations.

Food & Fun for All

For this event, we brought in a face painter and a caricaturist. We’ve always found that leaving guests with something special like art to remember the event makes it all the nicer. Guests with their adorned faces could pose for photo ops in our photo booth, which we set up with plenty of props. They’d be able to digitally download the photos they took after the event, or simply print them there at the booth in the standard way.

Lunch was already waiting on our guests when they arrived, kept warm and fresh at the buffets. Staff and their families were welcome to have their fill between rounds of games to keep their energy flowing.

We hadn’t simply stopped at the barbeque meal; our team had brought in ice cream novelties and freshly popped popcorn for the guests. Our ice cream novelties come in a variety of delectable forms, from popsicles to tubs to ice cream sandwiches. The smell of buttery popcorn, too, beckoned our picnic guests over.

With so many choices of food and entertainment, we could tell their team was having a blast.

One Happy Team

Our MC led the team in group games. Our guests gathered in the shelter to play together, laughter ringing out from within its red-roofed expanse. So, too, did guests get a chance to play lawn games together. We brought in Giant Connect Four, Giant Jenga, and Cornhole. These games, we find, are amazing for mingling and bonding, giving staff and their families time together. So, too, are group games amazing for bringing employees and their loved ones together across departments.

The energy in the park was one of excitement and activity. People moved to and fro, laughter filled the air, and the gentle hum of conversation wafted on the breeze.

Our team worked behind the scenes, taking out trash or staffing the inflatable booths. We found ourselves, as we always do, swept into the action. These events are revitalizing, as it’s their entire purpose to be. We could already tell this event was perfect, just as Rectangle Health wanted.

An Unforgettable Picnic

The sun’s beams stretched wide as it began to lower towards the treeline. The hours flew by in a hurry for us. Before we realized it, the clock was turning 4:00, and this company picnic was coming to a close.

As guests filed out, wearing their branded hats, carrying caricatures and snacks, and with their vibrantly painted faces, we felt pleased. This event had been a hit, and had been exactly what Rectangle Health requested: a relaxing day of fun and games for their valued employees and their loved ones.

Once the final guests had left the park, our team began breaking down tables, packing up equipment, and deflating the interactives. The day had lived up to the expectations our client had for it. This company picnic was a resounding success.

Glancing back at the park, now cast in the golden hue of late afternoon and restored to its pristine state, we couldn’t help but smile. We made these people truly happy, just as their company had wanted for them. It was another perfect company picnic.
