10 Great Team Building Games for Finance Companies
Finance Trivia
You’ll Need:
- Flashcards
- Whiteboard
Let your team flex their knowledge with a round of work-related trivia! This makes for a good start to any session of team building games. Your employees can get their brain juices flowing and be ready for whatever your event brings!
Virtual Scavenger Hunt
You’ll Need:
- Smartphones or Tablets
- Some apps require downloading
Scavenger hunts are good fun for everyone and can flex the thinking skills your finance employees use during their workdays. One of the best things about virtual scavenger hunts is the ability to include employees onsite as well as those who WFH. Whether your event is at a set location or virtual, these scavenger hunts give your team a chance to bond and hone their brainpower. Apps like Scavify even offer real-time leaderboards and photostreams and the option to keep the competition open for an extended period of time so everyone gets the chance to participate!
Geocache Adventure
You’ll Need:
- Smartphone or Tablet
Working a desk job, your finance employees will love a chance to get outside in nature and adventure together. Outdoor excursions are not only a great way to promote healthy lifestyles, but bring your team closer and give them a chance to bond. Working together, teams will follow the clues and GPS coordinates provided to locate each place and item on the list. The time it takes to complete this activity depends on the distance and number of items players are required to find. See more about Geocaching.
Giant Jigsaw
You’ll Need:
- Puzzle
- Plenty of Flat Surface Area
Your finance team often needs to crunch numbers or puzzle things out, so why not use their skills in a puzzle game? The object, of course, is to complete the puzzle through teamwork. If a folding table can be set up in a corner of your picnic or event spot, this area will become a space people gravitate to. A gigantic puzzle to solve at leisure can extend and reinforce the team spirit and camaraderie from other team building activities throughout the course of the picnic. This also serves as a chance for employees to mingle and keeps your engagement up throughout the event. We have an entire article on passive activities like this, which are sure to stimulate your finance employee’s thinking skills.
Leaky Pipe
You’ll Need:
- Water
- Buckets
- Cups
- PVC Pipes with Holes in Them
- Ping Pong Balls
This game is another one designed to flex your finance employee’s problem-solving skills and the area of the brain they use in their professional life. The object of this game is to retrieve the ping pong ball using only the materials provided. A bucket of water is placed approximately 20-25″ from the team’s pipe. Team members will race to the bucket, fill the cups with water and pour the water into the pipe in an attempt to float the ball to the water’s surface where it can be retrieved. Holes will be drilled in the pipe at equidistant intervals, so players must work fast and figure out how to plug holes and retain enough water to float the ping pong ball for retrieval.
Rope Handcuffs
You’ll Need:
- 2 Lengths Per Player of Short Rope per Player with Knots Tied to Each End
This game requires players to use problem-solving skills and will bring your finance team closer as a group bonding experience. Divide players into pairs. Each pair is joined together via the rope “handcuffs.” The object is to separate themselves from each other without removing their hands from the “handcuffs” or untying the knots.
Balloon Water
You’ll Need:
- Buckets
- Balloons
- Bricks
- Disposable Straws
- Binder Clips
- Plastic Bags
- String
- Tape
- Scissors
This game encourages teamwork, creativity, and communication: all skills your finance employees can use on the job. The object of this game is to be the first team to completely submerge a balloon in water using only the materials provided and their ingenuity. To qualify, teams must keep the balloon fully submerged for a minimum of five seconds.
Frostbite
You’ll Need:
- Blindfolds for Each Player
- Items to Create a Small Tent
- Tarp
- Tape
- Chopsticks
- Paper
This team building game will promote working together, an important facet of professional life in a financial company. Each team will elect a leader for the project. The leader has frostbite and is unable to assist them with erecting a shelter. The other players will have their blindfolds on as they are “snowblind.” Teams will be given 15-30 minutes to create a shelter following the instructions of their leader.
Giant Jenga
You’ll Need:
- A Giant Jenga Set
Another fun puzzle game to stimulate your teams’ problem-solving skills, analysis skills, and teamwork abilities is Jenga. We’ve brought Jenga into many company picnics over the years, and it’s always a crowd favorite to play. To play, players take turns removing one wooden block at a time from a tower and placing it on top, trying not to make the tower collapse.
Truth or Challenge Jenga
You’ll Need:
- A Jenga game per team
Since we already have our Jenga game, let’s use it for another fun game! Begin with an assembled Jenga tower. Each game piece will have a challenge written on it ahead of time. Taking turns, players will be asked if they’d rather answer a truth question or remove a block and perform the challenge written on it.
It’s important to keep questions and challenges respectful and work-appropriate.
A Few Ideas Are:
