Company Excursion Ideas
Company picnics are loads of fun. Whether you’re going to a sought-after location or simply hosting a fun afternoon at a local park, it doesn’t matter. Something about the community, the bonding, and the excitement just makes it. If you’re looking to add even more excitement to your next company outing, you may want to consider taking your team on a company excursion. In this article, we’ll give you some details on what you need to consider and a list of ideas to get you started on your very own corporate excursion.
What is An Excursion?
To put it simply: An excursion is a lot like a field trip. While a staff barbeque of any sort is a little like that, an excursion takes it one step further. It’s centered around a location, and while it does still contain classic picnic elements (games, food, and such), it’s centered around the location and activities there. We hosted an amazing excursion to a mine for one company, complete with a TNT detonation for the guests. The company, being a mining outfit, asked us to give their team a one-of-a-kind day at a local, functional mine. Staff and their families had a blast (literally) checking out the equipment, watching the detonation, as well as playing plenty of field games and enjoying inflatable entertainment.
Whether you’d like to take your team and their loved ones out to see a dairy farm or go hot air ballooning, take them to a local tourist destination, or take them out to a nearby national wonder for a day of hiking or rafting, there’s plenty of ideas and locations to choose from. We’d like to give you some ideas, as well as a rundown on practicalities and logistics to consider, to help you as you plan your next big staff outing.
Ideas for Nature Company Excursions:
- Visiting a local natural wonder
- Guided nature walk
- Fossil hunting
- Outdoor activities (hiking, rafting, etc.) in a local national park
Choosing a Location:
When choosing a location, think about what matters to your team and your company. The aforementioned mine was meaningful for a mining company, and likewise, you may want to choose a location that represents your company. Alternatively, if you’re based near a tourist attraction or national wonder, it’s always a great idea to plan an outing there. Whether it’s a day out at the Grand Canyon or a picnic at Central Park, it’s fun to feel like a tourist for a day. If your team is made up of active people, or folks who like the outdoors, a day out in nature would suit them. Visiting a local national park, or just rafting the river with your staff, is always sure to be a blast. Read on for more ideas, in list form, about locations and activities!
Things to Keep in Mind:
When taking a group out for the day, there’s always loads of logistics to think about. While we’ll mention a few, don’t forget that when you partner with us here at A Company Picnic, we’ll take care of all the fine details for you.
If you’re going to a specific location, travel needs to be kept in mind. We offer shuttles to our clients, to help ensure all attendees are able to get from point A to point B. They’re great for ensuring all your guests arrive at a set time, for excursions like rafting or hiking. Shuttles are beneficial in that parking can be held offsite, for large picnics and for getting your team into smaller venues, like a park or tourist hotspot. If you’re planning an excursion to tourist destinations or a tour around your city, shuttles are the perfect way to transport your staff from spot to spot.
It’s also important to think about refreshments, as well. For all-day excursions, or just long ones, your team may get hungry or thirsty. We always recommend either having refreshments at a designated landing spot, or carrying some with you. We provide refreshments and will bring them along for you, so you won’t have to worry.
